During the month of January 2003, when our children were at home for holidays, the villages around and Kombuthooki were affected by an unknown deadly disease which took the lives of many of the innocent tribals. The victims suffered from fever, vomiting and diarrhea. One of the victims was our little D.Jayamani,a student of Community School. Shocked by this event, Bro.George immediately took initiative to start a primary health centre with a whole lot of facilities with various diagnostic and medical facilities including a dental chair. At present a well equipped, mini hospital is functioning in the premises This mini hospital was built with the help of some generous past students of Bro.George.
Every day a qualified Doctor from Montfort Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School visits the centre and attends to the patients. On Wednesday a team of Doctors from Vinayaga Missions specialized in various fields visit our centre for identifying those out-patients who need further medical tests and send them for treatments down to Salem. The Community health centre makes arrangements for their further treatment in Salem. Periodical medical camps are organized with the help of various organizations and hospitals such as the Vinayaga Missions, Salem and Apollo hospitals, Chennai, to create health awareness among the tribals and to take care of their medical needs. Till date, every year more than 10,000 patients have received medical treatment from the Tribal community Centre. Affordable and good medicare is the main objective.
